Young Zoroastrian Club

Reportedly, the Young Zoroastrian Club was founded in 1850 by Hiraji Gosta with financial help from the houses of Tata and Wadia.




Jamsetji Tata's relationship with cricket


Jamsetji Tata, with the sport at the domestic level, infrastructure for the sport in the 1880s.

Like father, like son?

Some say that Jamsetji's passion for cricket passed on to his son Sir Dorabji Tata. Dorabji went on to captain the cricket 11 at Parsee Gymkhana. He even became a patron of the Indian Gymkhana in England.

Established in 1916, it was the country's first multi-ethnic cricket club.

In 1923, Lady Meherbai Tata, the wife of Sir Dorabji, became the first female member of the Indian Gymkhana in England.



Early Association

1937
Mumbai's Braboume Stadium opened in this year. Tata Group's then Chairman had helped with its cost of construction.

1939
Keenan stadium in Jamshedpur was built in this year. It was named after John Lawrence Keenan, a former general manager of Tata Steel.

1970s
When the Bombay Cricket Association proposed to build a stadium dedicated to cricket, the Talas announced a contribution of  ₹6 lakh.

Other Contributions

Tata Steel products have been used in the country's major stadiums like Kolkata's Eden Gardens and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium.

With the contribution from Tata Power Solar, the world's largest solar rooftop on a cricket sladium was installed at Cricket Club of India.


Ties with Indian Premier League

2009
Tata Consultancy Services became the first company to join an IPL team as a technology Partner.

2018
Tata Communications powered the remote production of IPL
 
Tata Motors has also been associated with IPL since 2018.

2022
In January 2022, Tata Group became the title sponsor of the IPL for its 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Title Sponsorship -WPL

Tata Group has been awarded the title sponsorship rights of Women's Premier League (WPL) seasons 2023 2027 by the BCCI

Roger Binny, President of BCCI, said, "We are really happy and excited to have Tata Group as the title sponsor for the WPI."
